Graveyard Keeper 2 Morgue Guide — Corpse Pallets, Donkey Deliveries and the Hidden Door Repair

Why the donkey drops corpses outside, how to repair the morgue door, add pallet capacity and avoid missed deliveries.

Updated · version 1.009

Quick answer

Repair the broken front door of the Morgue using 1 Iron Detail and 3 Oiled Planks. The donkey will then deliver bodies inside rather than leaving them outside. Bodies go onto available Corpse Pallets, or onto the floor when there is space but no free pallet.

Build a Corpse Pallet I from the Morgue's blueprint desk with 4 Boards and 4 Bronze Nails. Each one adds one unit of corpse capacity. If deliveries stop, check the current bodies / total capacity indicator first: the donkey cannot drop another body when the Morgue is full. Free space is necessary, but deliveries also depend on a separate chance roll and later story settings.

The door people miss for dozens of hours

The Morgue sits between your house and the graveyard. Its entrance looks like normal broken scenery, making its repair interaction surprisingly easy to overlook.

In October, players reported discovering it after 70 or even 80 hours of gameplay. Until then, they had been walking outside and manually carrying every corpse through the door.

Fixing the door is not full corpse automation. It solves a specific annoyance: where deliveries land. Combined with extra pallets, however, it makes corpse processing and zombie preparation far less tedious.

Where the repair is

Walk to the Morgue and inspect the damaged front entrance. This is not the old door leading toward the Resurrection Lab and not one of the basement blockages elsewhere.

Move close enough for the repair interaction to appear. Its prompt can be easy to miss from a distance.

The repair cost in current game data is:

Once fixed, the delivery route moves indoors. The number of bodies per visit does not automatically increase just because the front door works.

How to build Corpse Pallets

Use the construction desk inside the Morgue. Corpse Pallet I becomes available through the early autopsy progression.

Each pallet requires:

A pallet provides one additional storage position and raises the Morgue's total capacity by one. Several pallets let you build a buffer of corpses and process them together later, rather than interrupting every other task whenever the donkey arrives.

What does a number like 3/5 mean?

That is the current load and total capacity: three bodies occupy five available units, leaving two free.

Current game data identifies these contributors to Morgue capacity:

Capacity is not simply the number of pallets you built. Other workstations contribute too, so keep an eye on the actual room indicator.

When does the donkey bring bodies?

After Certificate, Please, the regular delivery days are Gluttony, Lust and Pride, usually at approximately 13:12 in-game time.

A scheduled visit is not always a guaranteed corpse.

Two things matter:

  1. Available Morgue capacity.

    A full Morgue blocks delivery.

  2. Delivery chance.

This changes as deliveries succeed, fail or are blocked, and is affected by later story options.

At the beginning the donkey normally brings one corpse per successful visit. Later, the story can offer a “Lots of corpses” setting that allows up to two per delivery while supporting a stronger delivery rate.

So do not promise yourself that repairing the door means six corpses every week. Storage and delivery frequency are related but separate systems.

Repairing the door is not the same as building pallets

These upgrades fix different problems.

Door repair: stops outside dumping and routes arrivals indoors.

Pallets: increase the storage limit and provide resting places for bodies.

If you build five pallets but leave the door broken, you will still collect corpses outside manually. If you fix the door but leave your starting capacity at one, you will still have little room to receive more corpses.

The useful setup combines both.

What if every pallet is full?

When the Morgue has some remaining general capacity, a corpse can be left on the floor if no pallet is open. Once total capacity is full, the donkey will not complete another delivery.

Make room by burying, cremating or otherwise properly disposing of a body. Removing organs or searching pockets does not free the body's capacity slot. The corpse still exists.

That distinction matters when you are processing many bodies for their organs but leaving the actual corpses on workstations.

Why did a corpse disappear outside?

A body left unattended on the ground may eventually disappear after a long period away from the visible scene. That is not equivalent to cremation or burial: the missing body does not give the usual rewards.

The current game-data reference suggests approximately 75 real minutes out of view as the relevant timer. Do not treat it as a safe storage system; move corpses indoors or repair the door as soon as practical.

Small grave-like remains or other signs of neglected bodies can also appear around body-handling areas. Their presence should not be mistaken for another delivery mechanic.

A reliable delivery routine

To avoid missing bodies:

  1. Build at least one additional Corpse Pallet.

  2. Watch the capacity indicator after each delivery.

  3. Repair the door when Iron Detail and Oiled Planks become available.

  4. Free at least one capacity slot before delivery days.

  5. Advance the later donkey-delivery settings if you need a larger flow.

  6. Do not leave low-value bodies occupying every workstation indefinitely.

This turns the Morgue into a practical buffer rather than another place you must run to every few minutes.

How does this help zombie production?

More available corpses make it easier to select workers with better skull distributions and usable organs. However, receiving more corpses does not automatically produce more zombies. Resurrection still needs collars, Reanimation Liquid and prepared tables.

For those systems, see How Zombies Work and How to Resurrect a Zombie.

If your focus is burial rather than automation, use the Red and White Skulls Guide.

Several post-launch updates fixed corpse counters and workstations, including a Crematorium getting stuck and bad capacity counts after exhumation.

A published PC fix does not guarantee that the same update has already arrived on Nintendo Switch. If your capacity becomes negative or an interaction stops working altogether, check your installed platform build and current known issues before rebuilding the whole room.

FAQ

Why does the donkey still leave corpses outside?

Make sure you repaired the Morgue's front door, not a different blockage. Until that repair is done, outside dumping is the normal route.

Do pallets make the donkey bring more bodies per visit?

No. They increase storage capacity. Delivery quantity is a separate setting introduced later.

Why do I get no corpse when the Morgue says 0/5?

Because delivery chance also matters. A free slot makes delivery possible but does not guarantee it.

Can I leave corpses on the ground instead?

That is risky. They can disappear without the normal rewards, so use proper storage whenever possible.

Does the repaired door automate autopsies?

No. It moves the delivery indoors. Autopsy, cremation, burial and resurrection still use their own workstations and actions.
