Quick answer
Fast travel in Graveyard Keeper 2 uses Milestones placed around the map. You first activate a Milestone by paying the displayed
Faith cost; after that, travel between already active Milestones is free.
You can only start fast travel by interacting with a Milestone. The normal map can show them, but it does not let you teleport from anywhere.
How this differs from the first game
Players coming from the original Graveyard Keeper may expect a Teleportstone-style solution.
The sequel uses a different system.
The world gradually becomes a network of permanent travel points. You decide which Milestones are worth activating now and which can wait.
The important tradeoff is that activation costs
Faith, and Faith is also needed for Inspirations, research and other progression.
That means unlocking every stone on sight can slow down something more important.
How to activate a Milestone
Walk up to an inactive Milestone and interact with it.
If it is not unlocked yet:
- 1
choose the activation option;
- 2
the game shows the
Faith price;
- 3
- 4
the Milestone joins your travel network;
- 5
select another active point to travel there.
The activation fee is permanent.
Once a point is open, later trips through it cost nothing.
How much does fast travel cost?
The activation price depends on the specific Milestone.
Some points are free, while others cost several
Faith, with individual prices reaching roughly 8 Faith.
Your home-area Milestone is activated by the story for free.
You do not really need to memorize a price table because the game shows the cost before you confirm. The more important point is that early Faith is limited by the weekly sermon cycle.
See Faith and Inspirations Explained.
I can see a Milestone on the map. Why can't I travel to it?
There are two common reasons.
It has not been activated
Discovering a location is not enough. You must physically visit its Milestone and pay the activation cost if it has one.
You opened the character map
The menu map is informational.
Fast travel begins by interacting with a Milestone in the world. You cannot stand in the middle of the forest, open the map and teleport home.
You first need to reach an active point.
Which Milestones should you unlock first?
Early
Faith is valuable, so do not automatically pay for every stone.
Think about route frequency.
1. Home
Your base point is opened by the story and becomes the natural center of the network.
2. Town areas
Once Town progression, trading, Barracks and Town Orders become regular activities, town-side travel saves a lot of repeated walking.
3. Resource and production areas
Quarry and other distant resource zones become good candidates once you are actually visiting them every cycle.
4. Remote quest areas
You do not need to buy every remote Milestone the first time you see it.
If a quest sends you somewhere once and the next chapter moves elsewhere, keeping the Faith may be smarter.
When is a Milestone worth the Faith?
A simple rule works well:
If you have already walked the route several times and know you will keep doing it, unlock it.
Fast travel is especially useful for scheduled mechanics. When a weekly event is almost over, removing a long cross-map walk can save an entire in-game week.
See Days of the Week in Graveyard Keeper 2.
Why not unlock everything immediately?
Faith has competing uses.
It is needed for things such as:
claiming some Inspiration rewards;
research;
other progression systems.
Early Faith is largely constrained by sermons, which happen once per week.
Several unnecessary Milestone activations can leave you unable to claim the Mastery or research you actually need.
If a recipe is blocked, check Mastery Explained before spending Faith. Sometimes equipment solves the requirement without any Faith investment.
Fast travel and the weekly schedule
Milestones are not only a convenience feature. They are part of time management.
Different systems happen on fixed days:
sermons;
Resurrection;
battles;
Town and trading cycles.
Time continues to pass while you travel normally.
If an event closes today, a long walk can cost you another full week. A developed Milestone network makes weekly planning much more forgiving.
Is fast travel free?
After activation, yes.
There is no recurring:
item cost;
money cost;
travel cooldown.
The only payment is the one-time unlock of the Milestone.
Can you fast travel while carrying items?
Normal inventory items travel with the Keeper.
Large-object handling and zombie logistics are separate systems. Milestones do not replace a Supply Porter or automated transport network.
See How Zombies Work for production logistics.
Should you spend your last Faith on a Milestone?
If the route is not immediately essential, think first.
Ask:
- 1
do I need
Faith for an Inspiration right now?
- 2
is there an important research cost coming up?
- 3
- 4
how often will I use this point before that next Faith income?
If Wrath day is close, the purchase is less risky. If you just spent the week's Faith, a convenience unlock may be better delayed.
Does fast travel reduce Insanity?
Not directly.
But it helps indirectly by cutting pointless walking, making it easier to return home in time and keeping your sleep schedule under control.
If sleep and Insanity are confusing, see Insanity and Tiredness Explained.
