How Town Orders Work in Graveyard Keeper 2

How to accept Town Orders, where to place Supply Boxes, why an order can show 1/1 without completing, when pickup happens, and how Urgent and Cumulative orders differ.

Updated · version 1.006

Quick answer

Town Orders are accepted from the chalk board in the Town Warehouse on Pride day. After accepting an order, make the required Supply Boxes, carry them to the Warehouse, and place them in the dedicated crate pile behind Jack/the trader near the wooden lift. Dropping a box beside the board does not count as a proper delivery.

If the order already shows 1/1 but does not complete, that is usually normal: delivered orders are processed on the next Pride day. This weekly delay is why the first Town Order looks broken to so many players.

Why Town Orders look bugged

The system combines three separate actions:

  1. accepting an order

    ;

  2. physically delivering the Supply Boxes

    ;

  3. waiting for the weekly pickup/count

    .

The UI does a decent job showing how many crates have been delivered, but it does a poor job explaining that 1/1 does not mean immediate quest completion.

The classic launch-week situation is: the player makes the Iron supply crate, puts it somewhere in the Warehouse, sees 1/1, talks to Jack, and the dialogue is still locked.

That is not necessarily a bug. The order may simply be waiting for Pride day.

Where do you accept Town Orders?

Orders are taken from the board inside the Town Warehouse.

The full order-selection cycle happens on Pride day, represented by the purple/sun-like day symbol.

As you rebuild more Town shops, those shops add their own sets of orders. What begins as a confusing tutorial task becomes a repeatable supply system tied directly to Town development.

One of the main purposes of Town Orders is generating Town Happiness.

Step 1: Make sure the order is actually active

Seeing a requirement somewhere in the interface does not mean every crate you prepare is automatically tied to an active order.

Open the board and confirm which order you accepted. Pride day is when you choose new available orders from the Town's shop tiers.

If the order is not active, pre-made Supply Boxes may still be useful later, but the current delivery counter will not behave the way you expect.

Step 2: Make the exact Supply Box requested

A Town Order does not simply ask for “ten Iron” in the normal inventory sense. It asks for a specific packaged supply category, such as:

  • Supply: Iron Tools;
  • Supply: Kitchen Utensils;
  • Supply: Building Materials;
  • Supply: Preserves;
  • and other supply types.

These are separate packaged goods, not ordinary stacks of raw resources.

Supply Boxes belong to the Town/Factory production chain. If the order requests an Iron-related supply, carrying normal Iron Ingots to the Warehouse will not substitute for the required box.

Always match the exact Supply item name.

Step 3: Where exactly do you put the crate?

This is the part most first attempts get wrong.

The Town Warehouse has a dedicated delivery pile behind the trader/Jack, on the other side of the wooden lift. There is a visual crate marker, and when you stand in the right place you get a Place interaction.

Put the Supply Box there.

These do not count as proper delivery:

  • dropping the crate beside the chalk board;
  • leaving it in a random part of the Warehouse;
  • carrying it in your hands;
  • putting it into an unrelated storage container.

If the order counter changes to 1/1, the game has recognised the delivered crate.

Why does 1/1 not complete the order?

Because delivery and order processing do not happen at the same time.

You can deposit crates in advance, but the pickup/count is tied to the weekly cycle — Pride day.

So the message:

“I delivered everything, it says 1/1, but Jack still will not complete the order”

usually means:

“The crate has been registered; now wait for the next Pride day.”

This exact confusion was repeated across multiple release-week player threads. Waiting a normal day was not enough; the order completed when the weekly purple day returned.

Should I visit the Warehouse on Pride day?

The safest approach is yes: return to the Town Warehouse on Pride day and interact with the board/Jack.

Players have reported that the weekly processing became obvious when they returned to the Warehouse on the correct day.

If your counter already shows the required amount, do not pull the crate back out and craft another one. Come back on Pride day first.

Urgent vs Cumulative Orders

As the system expands, Town shops offer two repeatable order types.

Urgent Orders

An Urgent order must be fully delivered by the next weekly count.

They generally offer a stronger Happiness reward, but you need a production chain that can actually hit the required quantity before the deadline.

Partial progress is not the point of an Urgent order.

Cumulative Orders

A Cumulative order allows deliveries to build up across weekly cycles.

If you cannot finish the entire quantity this week, the progress can continue rather than forcing you to produce everything in one burst.

This is much friendlier while your Factory and automation are still weak.

Which type should I take?

Take an Urgent order when:

  • the raw materials are already stocked;
  • your Factory can reliably produce the boxes;
  • your zombie/production chain is not stalling;
  • you know you can finish before the next Pride day.

Take a Cumulative order when:

  • the supply item is new;
  • production is still mostly manual;
  • logistics are unreliable;
  • you do not want to structure the entire week around one delivery.

What do Town Orders reward?

The key systemic reward is Town Happiness.

Happiness drives Town development, which in turn affects shops, available services, and other parts of progression.

So Town Orders are not just side quests for a little money. They are the bridge between your production base and Town progression.

This is also why automation becomes genuinely useful rather than decorative: a stable production network can turn weekly output into repeatable Town growth.

Why doesn't normal Iron count?

Because the order checks a specific Supply item, not the underlying raw resource.

If the board requests Supply: Iron Tools, you need the packaged supply product. Ingots, loose components, or regular tools in your inventory do not automatically become that order item.

My crate is in the Warehouse but the counter is still 0/1

Check four things:

  1. Is the correct order active?

  2. Is this the exact Supply Box type requested?

  3. Did you place it in the dedicated delivery pile?

  4. Did you accidentally put it in normal storage instead?

Once the correct box is in the delivery spot, the order counter should recognise it.

Why did my order fail or disappear?

If it was an Urgent order and you did not deliver the full amount before the weekly count, the deadline is the likely reason.

Cumulative orders are more forgiving because their delivery progress carries forward.

Do not automatically choose the higher-reward Urgent option when you are still learning the production chain.

How to build production around Town Orders

Town Orders are one of the best examples of why GK2's automation matters.

For reliable weekly supply, it helps to:

  • keep dedicated raw-material chests;
  • pre-produce common intermediate components;
  • avoid idle Furnace/Workbench time;
  • assign zombie workers to repeated crafts;
  • use supplier zombies for logistics;
  • plan output around the next Pride day.

If your worker is standing around doing nothing, see How Zombies Work.
